Netmore
Netmore LoRaWAN®
The LoRaWAN specification is a Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) networking protocol designed to wirelessly connect battery operated ‘things’ to the internet in regional, national or global networks, and target key Internet of Things (IoT) requirements such as bi-directional communication, end-to-end security, mobility and localization services. The protocol is specified by LoRa Alliance® as an open global standard.
Netmore is a contributor member of the LoRa Alliance which is the fastest growing IoT technology alliance. The non-profit association consists of more than 500 IoT Networks. Members benefit from a vibrant ecosystem of active contributors and operators offering nationwide LoRaWAN, products, solutions & services, which creates new and sustainable business opportunities.
Through standardization and the accredited certification scheme, the LoRa Alliance delivers the interoperability needed for LPWA networks to scale, making LoRaWAN the premier solution for global LPWAN deployments.
LoRaWAN network architecture is deployed in a star-of-stars topology in which gateways relay messages between end-devices and a central network server. The gateways are connected to the network server via standard IP connections and act as a transparent bridge, simply converting RF packets to IP packets and vice versa. The gateways operate in the unlicensed frequency spectrum of 868 MHz in Europe.
Security is a primary concern for any mass IoT deployment and the LoRaWAN specification defines two layers of cryptography with a unique 128-bit Network Session Key shared between the end-device and network server and a unique 128-bit Application Session Key (AppSKey) shared end-to-end at the application level.
AES algorithms are used to provide authentication and integrity of packets to the network server and end-to-end encryption to the application server. By providing these two levels, it becomes possible to implement ‘multi-tenant’ shared networks without the network operator having visibility of the user’s payload data.
Main Differentiators & Technical Features
Netmore’s LoRaWAN Portal is a unique management system for Gateways and Devices. The LoRaWAN Network Server is crucial for good network performance. The server is telecom grade with full compliance to the LoRaWAN Specifications according to LoRa Alliance. To secure industry standard availability and performance, the server is hosted servers physically located in Sweden.
The Gateways are connected to the internet with a primary (Ethernet) and secondary (3G/4G mobile broadband) connection. The purpose is to secure undisturbed backhaul communication to the LoRaWAN Network Server.
A dedicated monitoring and Gateway management FW is pre-configured in the Gateway to facilitate automatic fallback to 3G/4G whenever the primary internet connection is lost. The management FW on the Gateway works together with monitoring and management SW in the Portal. Automatic alarms can be configured to indicate any deviations to the Netmore Network Operations Centre (NOC). To avoid dependencies to the LoRaWAN Network Server this management communication between the Gateway and Portal is through a dedicated VPN between the Portal and Gateway.
Primary LoRaWAN Services
Public LoRaWAN
Netmore rolls out nationwide coverage in cooperation with local or regional network owners. A city or enterprise gains full control of the infrastructure as network owner and at the same time benefits full operational support and expertise from a professional operator. The shared infrastructure provides best in class performance and capacity with efficient and fair usage of the unlicensed frequency spectrum.
Private LoRaWAN
Netmore also support private LoRaWAN installations where there are specific needs. The private network is managed together with the public network to minimize co-existing interference. Private network can easily be migrated into the public at a later stage in the application lifecycle.
LoRaWAN Portal API
The system supports a standard API structure suitable for any IoT application. The LoRaWAN service works seamlessly with Netmore Connectivity Platform (NCP) as well as with cloud services from Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and AWS IoT Core among others.
Netmore IoT Sensor and Device Market
Essential for a successful IoT deployment is an ecosystem of different stakeholders working together to maximize the benefits of the investments. Netmore Market presents device makers & application suppliers partner up for optimal solution for the customer.
Service & Support
The Netmore LoRaWAN is operated and monitored 24/7, consequently we receive alerts and notifications if any part of the system is not working. Support towards solution suppliers is included and facilitate the use for network owners and solution suppliers.
Due to the available standard API structure, integration to application level device and network management is simple and straight forward.
